During the second semester, we are supposed to recreate a new space inside an existing space. Therefore, we went to a shop in Raffles xchange, called DMK, and measured the shop's interior (columns etc).

This is a project we did during the first term of our year 2. It is a project in which we are supposed to redesign the space inside a site given to us by our lecturers inside SP. My chosen site was the yellow corridor, and the terms in which I am supposed to work with is Apogeotropic, Heterophyllous and Prickle.

This is the other side light shot of the figurine. The details on the left side of David Beckham face is very visible compared to the right side as light does not shines on the right side.

This is a side light shot. In this shot, the side of david beckham face is being more visible as the light is coming from the direction.

This is the front light shot of the same figurine. The David Beckham figurine is used for all of the shot. In this shot, the face looks clearer than the back light shot as the light is being shone down towards his face.

This is a photo of a mother looking at other place and her child is climbing onto the next step. This shot was taken in the night and the reason why I choose this picture as a decisive moment was because the little girl was moving to the next level.

I took this shot to show the man crossing the road when it is red light for passengers and green for cars. I felt that this is a decisive moment shot as it makes me wonder what is going to happen next.

These are the trial shots which I took. The stair seems like a nice place to focus but I find it abit difficult to differentiate between morning and night. Therefore, I choose the corridoor. It also seems to me that the corridoor is a better shot in my opinion. For your info, these photos are not the submission photos therefore please only grade the photos in the earlier posts. Thanks

This is my shot on self portrait. I shoot this shot to depict me trying to open the door and acting sneaky, somewhat like a burglar. As the background is mostly white, I wore a black shirt to show the contrast between the white and the black. Also, by doing so most focus will be on me when they first see this picture.

This is the interior shots I took. The darker photo is the shot in the day and the other with lights on is the shot taken at night. I chose this place to shoot the interior is because I felt that this place has a photography concept in it, which is frame within a frame. As such, the main focus is the corridoor that stretch all the way to the back.

This is my exterior shot on a building. The camera model which I use to take these shots is the FINEPIX Z20. I took this shot because I wanted to show the horizontal and vertical lines of this building. For the night shot, I wanted to show the lightings on the walls as I find that quite interesting. For both shots, I wanted the focus to be the lines of the building.

To some.. it might be YESSSSSS!! but for some.. it might be NOOO.. why? because if we all move up to 2nd year kelly and the rest of the lecturers will not be teaching us anymore!! D;

Sad.. and in his final lecture of the year, we did a interesting yet meaningful in class exercise.

we were supposed to take paper and cut and fold it and placed together to see what is will result in the end! And that's what my look like in the end!

My work may seems nice to me, but there are definitely many others which i find way awesome than mine. haha

moodbox to shophouse!

We had to transfer our moodbox concept into the shophouse that we measured. Ahhhh.. and my concept was not really shown at first, until i did a major makeover for the shophouse. And here are the concepts! ;D

And now another assignment has come..Moodbox! We had to transfer our concept of the designer into a 20by20by20 box! And thats how my moodbox look like.

Because my final moodbox is in school awaiting critic, I can only show sketches. And also, my first mockup that I showed King was a total destruction which I did not even know what was I doing. But i am glad i managed at last. ;D

Ah.. now for a BIG project has arrived.. this time, we had to each choose a designer which has to be different from another, and do a very very detailed research on the designer/artist/architect.

And my choice of designer? Louis kahn!!

The reason i choose him was because I really admire his play of lighting and he places his works in order, which sort of makes him a very systematic guy.

Yeap..and also look at one of his works..they are placed in order so much that they are symmetrical! And thus my concept was the symmetry and his simple shapes.

From measurement to autocad?!

From the project brief, we had to do the measured shophouse into autocad drawings!!

And there's alot to measure for the shophouse!!

However, the load might seems alot, but cheeleong (our "leader"), who is very very good in autocad(due to his working experience in the past), gave us different yet important jobs to do for the autocad drawings!

So in short, the drawings are split into many differents jobs and very quickly, with the pushing and fierce lookout by cheeleong, our job is finished fast!

But still, I give my thanks to cheeleong, for he has done a way better job than all of us, and with his careful teaching of how to draw and such, we produced great drawings and we all got an "A" for the project! (for CADP)

so...thanks cheeleong!!

Shophouse Group Project!!

Hais.. Another new project has come!!

This time, it was not so bad. We had groups to go together to find an existing shophouse in Singapore to go and measure! There are many different types of shophouse.. and guess which is the one we chose! A shophouse with no air-well and 1 rear court!

Ahh the weather was so hot when we set out to go and measure the shophouse!!
We set out early, and ended "quite early" as we all split the workload accordingly and all turns out fine. :D

Yeap. And that's how is it for the measurement of the shophouse.

This is my final model.. where i start to make it abit more 3-dimensionally.. as in the platform i started to extrude it out so that it looked like one..

we were asked to go outside and draw a 1 point perspective.. and I and Ashraf chosen this place..

We took around 1 hr to draw this.. and came back to complete it by rendering it with color pencils =D

The name of the model is called escher model.. This is Ashraf's model..

We made 3 tessellation in all, from which we were asked to do different things on different tessellation..

For example, this pic we were asked to do patterns on it.. and the other 2 was tones meaning black to white and colors

By switching and turning the 100 by 100mm square, we get different patterns and when it placed different

sides with different degrees, we get different pictures..=D

We were asked to pick out the main lines from our ontography and transfer it to a 100 by 100mm square.. from which we made repeating patterns resulting in this!!

It was hard work, but fun though..

Finally!! Our 1st holiday after our brickboy project!!

This is a picture I took from the toy museum trip..

It's actually a very very old toy..they said that only toys that are more than 50years are then able to be put there.. I still thought I could see toys such as gundam but they are not yet 50 yrs old..

luckily, there's chee leong to help us otherwise we wouldn't know what to do!!

So.. in the end it worked out somehow.. however it fell before the exhibition and we had to rush back to reform it

After doing the brickboy, we were asked to make another brickboy. This time, the brickboy is a bigger version of the smaller one. It was easier to make though, as the measurements were all 2 times the length of the smaller brickboy. After making and sticking it together, we were asked to choose a cartoon character and put the character into the brickboy. And so, I chose minnie mouse and put the characteristics into the brickboy itself. In order to make others know that it is minnie, I reshape the brickboy and rearranged the parts. Furthurmore, I exaggerate the ribbon and used the whole box as the ribbon. And so, minnie mouse brickboy was formed. =x

Also, during the first lesson, we were asked to do a simple sketch of anything inside the studio. This is to test our drawing skills and the importance of shading as shading brings in life to the pictures. I decided to do something I felt is challenging and decides to draw the keyboard, and this is what I drew. Although it does not seem to be what I expected but I believe I could get better in time to come (=

This sketch was done in the morning and the robot making was in the afternoon after our break. Therefore, I felt this day was well spent and enjoyed myself greatly.

Life of a robot

After long hours of sketching of the body parts, applying glue and tedious cutting of the body parts, this robot was born during my first lesson in Singapore Poly. At first I thought that it would be an easy job as I just need to sketch the body parts out of a piece of drawing paper and following the measurements stated in that piece of paper. However, it proves me wrong. It took me a very long time to paste the robot parts together and finally sticking all of its parts.

It bores me at first, but I gradually began to realize that patience is the key to complete this robot, or rather complete many things. Also, after completing the little arm of the robot, I was happy that I did not give up till the very last minute. It was also very enjoyable when everyone else is together making their own robots. All in all, I greatly enjoyed myself very much whilst making this robot. =)
